Think you're brave enough to buy your fabric, but you want the best deal in town? Well, the Los Angeles garment district is for you! If you love haggling to get the greatest price ever, you'll love the garment district!

The center of the garment district is at Ninth Street and Maple. Merchant's shops extend east and west on Ninth Street and north and south on Maple.

Looking for a specific fabric, you stand a good chance of finding it; if you're willing to hunt. It can be time consuming, but it's also a lot of fun. There's more fabric than you've ever seen anywhere in the garment district, and the prices vary from shop to shop. The selection of fabric is incredible.

See the attached list of merchants contains several of the folks I do business with. They've given me very fair prices and I like the selection of fabric they carry. Most of them will cut swatches for you if asked. Generally I don't deal with merchants who won't cut swatches.

If you decide to take a trip to the garment district, please be advised that skid row is very close - within blocks. Don't take a lot of money with you and make sure you can hold onto the money you do take with you. Be careful!
